Drivers are not installed but are downloaded into the driver feed -
Description
The deployment of a supported Dell system finishes but no drivers are installed from the driver feed. -
Cause
The \drivers_postinstall directory created by the Driver Feed differs from the output of the driver_feed_discovery_tool. -
Resolution
The driver feed is an automated functionality to install drivers as a midlevel task.
During this task, the client is checked for the manufacturer and the model to use the correct drivers.
It can happen that the driver feeds which are imported from Dell have a different location than the location which is assembled by the discovery.
If there are multiple models which can use the same driver feed (for instance the ATG or AIO systems use the same feed as the standard models)If this issue appears please open a ticket with a few important pieces of information:
- Which version of the \\sdaip\drivers_postinstall\feed_tools\drvstr.cfg is used. Open this file in an editor and copy the first lines to the ticket.
- Copy the \\sdaip\drivers_postinstall\feed_tools folder on to the desktop of an affected system, Run driver_feed_discovery_tool.vbs then capture a screenshot of the results.
Support will check this issue and the drvstr.cfg will be modified to pass the correct information.
As soon as the file has been changed it will be updated on all supported appliances. There are no additional steps necessary.
