The K2000 samba share password reverted or changed by itself (4288967)

The KACE SDA stopped accepting the samba share password that may or may not have recently changed. Here are a few scenarios:

• The password changed "by itself".
• The password was changed recently and now it only takes the old password.
• The password was changed to your web interface password.

The password does not actually change itself, this is usually due to someone changing it and not telling others, or due to a saved password auto-filled in by your browser or a password managment application.

In the latter case, the process usually goes like this:

1. The password is changed in Settings and Maintenance > General Settings.
2. The password works for accessing the shares and building/booting KBEs.
3. A change is made, such as changing the default KBE or another setting in Settings and Maintenance > General Settings.
4. The samba share password from step 1 stops working for booting to KBEs or accessing the shares.

1. If using auto-fill or a password manager, disable the password auto-fill for the K2000
2. If you suspect someone is changing it, intentionally or not, you can check the access log (Settings and Maintenance > Appliance Logs > Web Server > Access Log) and look for entries that contain "/settings_general". Here's an example of entries you might see:
   
   10.10.10.110 - - [25/Aug/2014:08:11:40 -0400] "GET /settings_general HTTP/1.1" 200 511 27982 
   10.10.10.110 - - [25/Aug/2014:08:12:03 -0400] "POST /settings_general HTTP/1.1" 200 654 27721 
   
   The ip address at the beginning of the line (10.10.10.110 in this case) will indicate which IP address was accessing the page at that time.
   
   If the change was made on a different day, you will need to download the logs to get previous days' logging (Settings and Maintenance > Appliance Logs > Download Logs)
