The agent properties has values for purge days & purge time.
We've been informed this is a legacy of the previous Foglight product and is no longer valid.
How does one set the purge policy an agent type?
We wish to set a 90 day purge on all data for our Type_1 Script agent.
Foglight 5.x uses Retention Roll-up policies which are administrated within the Web Console | Administration | Data | Manage Retention Policies.
Since purge values are not set, one must re-define the roll-up policies, then add a purge time.
CAUTION: If one just adds a purge and does not redefine the roll-up policies, then data would remain in memory and not be written to disk. They would remain in memory until the defined purge time was reached.
PROCEDURE:
1) Web Console | Administration | Data | Manage Retention Policies
2) Select your agent type in the Filter by Cartridge drop-down (ie. Windows_System, Type_1_Script, etc.)
3) If the agent has multiple tables, there is a master table setting which will apply to all the tables within the selected 'type' agent.
For example, the 'Windows_SystemAgent_Table' type is the super type for all the other Windows_System_xxxx types. If you define a policy on this type, it will override the default policy and apply to all the tables contained within the Windows_System agent.
Else, one can set individual policies on each table within the agent.
For the Windows_System agent example to set the master table setting, scroll-down to the last entry 'Windows_SystemAgent_F4Table', click this entry to Add a new Retention Policy. Enter your Age & Roll-up values and click Save.
Here are the defaults we suggest:
Age Roll-up
15min 15min
4hr 1hr
5day 4hr
After submitting these entries, you can then add your final entry for purge:
90day purge
