Enable Windows Client to use ODBC for SQL Server

Overview

We currently use the SQL Native Client (SNC) to establish connections with SQL Servers. This method is utilized for connecting to Stat databases as well as other SQL servers, including PeopleSoft databases.

With Microsoft’s deprecation of SNC, it has become important to support other methods of connectivity as well.

In this section we will discuss how to connect to SQL databases using ODBC. We will use an example of connecting to a Stat database.

Configuring ODBC DataSource in Windows

7 Click Next and use the following configurations.
8 Click Finish and select Test Data Source. Ensure that the test connection is successful.

Using editini to create ODBC SQL connections

2
Select MS SQL SERVER in DBMS field.
3
Mark the Use ODBC checkbox. This should make the DSN field appear.
