Events Tab View

How to Get Here
On the MQ Queue Manager dashboard, click the Events tab.
Purpose
MQ events provide information about errors, warnings, or similar occurrences that are associated with queue managers, channels, or applications. The Events tab contains detailed information about each type of event: queue manager, channel, and performance events.
MQ systems can generate different types of events. Each event type belongs to a particular event collection, such as queue manager, performance, and channel event collections. When an event type is disabled in the queue manager, the queue manager does not generate that type of event and therefore they are not monitored. The following table lists the available event types and indicates the event collection they belong to:

Each event can have a unique set of fields that may not appear in the Events view. To find out more about the information associated with an event, use the Metric Analyzer. To access it, on the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click Configuration > Data and, in the data tree, navigate to the event using the following path: WebSphere MQ > All MQ Groups > MQ Group > queueManagers > Queue Manager > events > Event.
 
Description of Embedded Views
This view is made up of the following embedded views:

Queue Manager Events View
Description
Queue manager events are reported by queue managers as a result of conditions detected during their operation: for example, when a queue manager is stopped.
Data displayed
•
Time (GMT). The time (GMT) at which the queue manager event occurred.
 
•
Queue Name. The name of the queue associated with the queue manager.
 
•
Event Type. The event type. The MQAgent properties can be used to configure the type of events that are collected by the agent. For a complete list of event types, see your IBM WebSphere MQ documentation.
 
•
Description. A brief description of the queue manager event. If the description exceeds the column description and only a part of it is visible, hover over this field to see the entire description in a tool-tip.
 
•
Application Name. The name of the application associated with the MQ event.
 
•
Application Type. The type of the application associated with the MQ event. For a complete list of application types, see your WebSphere MQ documentation.
 
Channel Events View
Description
Channel events are reported by channels as a result of conditions detected during their operation: for example, when a channel instance is stopped.
Data displayed
•
Time (GMT). The time (GMT) at which the channel event occurred.
 
•
Channel Name. The name of the channel.
 
•
Event Type. The event type. The MQAgent properties can be used to configure the type of events that are collected by the agent. For a complete list of event types, see your IBM WebSphere MQ documentation.
 
•
Description. A brief description of the channel event. If the description exceeds the column description and only a part of it is visible, hover over this field to see the entire description in a tool-tip.
 
•
Queue Manager Name. The name of the queue manager associated with the channel event.
 
•
Transmission Queue Name. The name of the transmission queue used by sender channels.
 
•
Connection Name. The name of the channel connection.
 
 
 
Performance Events View
Description
Performance events are notifications that occur when a resource reaches a threshold condition. For example, when a queue depth limit is reached or when the queue is not serviced within a predefined time limit.
Data displayed
•
Time (GMT). The time (GMT) at which the performance event occurred.
 
•
Queue Name. The name of the queue.
 
•
Event Type. The performance event type. For a complete list of event types, see your IBM WebSphere MQ documentation.
 
•
Description. A brief description of the performance event. If the description exceeds the column description and only a part of it is visible, hover over this field to see the entire description in a tool-tip.
 
•
Queue Manager Name. The name of the queue manager associated with the performance event.
 
•
High Depth. The highest number of messages in the queue for the collection period.
 
•
Enqueues. The number of messages put in the queue since the queue statistics were last reset.
 
•
Dequeues. the number of messages removed from the queue since the queue statistics were last reset.

Listeners Tab View

How to Get Here
On the MQ Queue Manager dashboard, click the Listeners tab.
Purpose
Listeners accept incoming network requests from remote queue managers or from client applications. Once accepted, a listener starts the associated receiver or server connection channels to enable the queue manager to receive messages. There are four types of listeners, one for each supported network protocol: TCP, NetBIOS, SPX, and LU6.2. This tab lists the available listeners and their status.
The bottom half of the Listeners tab provides a detail view for the selected listener.
 
Description of the View
Data displayed
•
Health. The listener health, based one the highest severity alarm. Hovering over this field opens a dwell listing the most recent alarms for this listener.
 
•
Name. The name and type of the listener.
 
•
Start Date/Time. The date and time at which the listener was started.
 
•
Start Mode. The start mode for the listener: Queue Manager or Manual.
 
•
Status. The listener status (for example, Started, Running, or Stopped).
 
•
Type. The network protocol used by the listener: TCP, LU6.2, NetBIOS, or SPX.
 
•
Description. Additional information about the listener.

LU6.2 Listener Details View

How to Get Here
In the Listeners Tab View, select an LU6.2 listener entry in the table.
Purpose
This view lists the listeners that accept incoming requests from sources using the LU 6.2 network protocol.
 
Description of the View
Data displayed
•
TP Name. The transaction program (TP) name to start on the remote site, as defined on the monitored system.

NetBIOS Listener Details View

How to Get Here
In the Listeners Tab View, select a NetBIOS listener entry in the table.
Purpose
This view lists the listeners that accept incoming requests from sources using the NetBIOS network protocol.
 
Description of the View
Data displayed
•
Name. The name of the NetBIOS listener.
 
•
Adapter. The number of the LAN adapter. The default is zero ‘0’.
 
•
NetBIOS Names. The number of names to allocate.
 
•
Sessions. The number of sessions to allocate.
 
•
Commands. The number of commands to allocate.
