When attempting to run a Quiesced backup of an Exchange server you may receive an error indicatiing the snapshot failed.
There are several causes/resolutions for this issue. 2 common issues are
- the Exchange server Windows System Event Logs contain VSS Writer errors indicating insufficient resources available. Adding more memory or CPU to the VM can resolve this.
- the Esxchange server Windows Application Event logs contain Warnings from the Exchange IS that information stores are already in a quiesced state. This can be caused by another application, such as BackupExec on NTBACKUP, performing a backup of the Exchange Information stores. To resolve this either cancel running the other backup or change the schedule
