Steps on how to 'Configure VSS Tools' feature.
These tools are required for Log Truncation in SQL and Exchange virtual servers.
These steps need to be performed on each server where it is required to perform log truncation when vRanger backups run.
1. Right-click on the VM in My Inventory.
2. The Wizard starts, enter credentials with administrative permissions. Click Next.
3. It identifies disks (can select which disks for VSS). Check 'Perform application log truncation'. Click Configure.
4. After hitting configure, vRanger copies required files to VM. It writes a freeze.bat file – NOTE: it will overwrite any existing freeze.bat file.
5. Verify in the Backup Job that “Enable guest quiescing” is checked in the Options menu
6. The only way to tell if VSS is installed via vRanger is the presence of the Remove button in the Configure VSS Tools screen after reconnecting.
