Installing vRanger Pro DPP to a new SQL Express instance is not an option and grayed-out
This has been seen in a small number of cases if the product was uninstalled/reinstalled previously on this machine. There may be leftover registry keys still referencing the old SQL instance.
Be sure to have already uninstalled vRanger4 as well as the VRANGERPRO SQL Express instance from add/remove programs and have rebooted before completing the following. You will also need to browse the SQL program files folder structure and remove any vrangerpro database or log files leftover from the uninstall of the instance.
Open regedit and remove the following folders/keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Vizioncore, Inc.
(EASIEST) If no other instances are installed on this machine, delete the following and it should correct this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
If there are other instances, the delete the following instead:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\InstalledInstances with a value of VRANGERPRO
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\Instance Names\SQL\VRANGERPRO
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\VRANGERPRO
A support case may need to be opened if this does not correct the described problem.
