vddkd.exe Application Error During vRanger Backups -
Description
Intermittently, during vRanger backups, an error message displays stating, "The exception unknown software exception (0x40000015) occurred in the application at location 0x7857bb47. Click on OK to terminate the program".
The error message is displayed in a pop-up message windows with the title, "vddkd.exe-Application Error". The error condition appears to be prevalent on vRanger Server with Windows 2003 as its guest operating system.

Resolution
This is a VMware error which vRanger is not able to prevent from occurring. However, Windows 2008 Server appears to handle the pop-up message correctly. Because of this, it is recommended to upgrade to Windows 2008 Server, 32-bit or 64-bit, or R2 as a workaround.
