After upgrading to vRanger 5.3.x backup.exe appears to be using more resources.
Changes were made in vRanger 5.3 that cause this behavior. Before vRanger 5.3 there were other processes that ran in conjunction with backup.exe. Those processes are now included in backup.exe.
This is expected behavior. The resource usage of backup.exe in vRanger 5.3 should be similar to the total resources used by backup.exe & other vRanger processes in previous versions of vRanger.
