User wishes to back up or restore a VM containging an RDM
In order to back up and restore a VM with an RDM, the RDM must be a virtual RDM. This permits a snapshot to be taken of the RDM VM disk.
When restoring, the RDM disk will be restored to a regular -flat.vmdk file on the selected datastore. vRanger will not restore the RDM disk to the original LUN that hosted the RDM. If you need the RDM be back on the original storage, restore the orignal disk to an a .vmdk file. Then, connect both the LUN containing the RDM and the restored vmdk to a VM and copy the data from the vmdk to the RDM LUN.
