Description
vRanger job was cancelled leaving a vRanger snapshot open, seen in VC Snapshot manager as a do not Modify or delete vRanger snapshot . Also, the below KB 1002310 article details how to identify & delete [ consolidate ] an open snapshot when it does not show in snapshot manager.

Cause
The backup job cleanup process, including snapshot consolidation, was not run or did not properly complete.

Resolution
As long as that vRanger job is no longer running, you may delete this snapshot using the "Delete" or the "Delete All" button in VC client snapshot manager.
Never delete snapshot files directly from the datastore. This can leave your VM in an unstable state and it may not boot. In this case you will have to call VMware Support, and see if they can help you get the VM back to a usable state.
