When replicating with vRanger and a job errors out with "repl_wrong_size_target"
Cause
The Source and target VM's HDDs are not matching in size.
Possible Causes:
P2V
V2V
Running 3rd Party HDD align tools
Resolution
On both the Source and destination VM, Select the VM in the vSphere client and on the right side Right-Click on the Datstore and select "Browse Datastore".
Compare the Provisioned size of the VMDK's between the Source and Destination.
If they are not the same then check the Source VM's setting by right-clicking the VM and selecting "Edit Setting".
Select each HDD on the VM in the list and verify that the size is a round number (ie. 40GB, NOT 40.2341 GB)
If the HDDs are not a round number, increase the size by one GB to make it a round number.
Try running a replication job again.
If it fails, Create a test VM on the source side and provision the same side\type HDD as the Source VM. Then verify the sizes of the test VM between the source and Destination VM.
If the Source and Test VM do not match, but the Destination and Test VM's do match then on the Source AND test VM increase the HDD's one more GB. Then compare the sizes again in the Datastore browser. If they match then try running the replication job again.
