After migrating the WMware vCenter to a new domain vRanger can no longer see any of the virtual machines. In the My Inventory view the vCenter that has been modified will show up as disconnected and will be greyed out.
This can be caused by a stale record in the vRanger SQL database, removing the old entry will permit the new information to be successfully added.
This can be resolved by manually editing the vRanger Pro database, this should be done at a time when no jobs are running. You will need SQL Server Management Studio Express 2005 which is available as a free download from Microsoft.
1. Connect to the vRanger Pro database and open up Databases | vRanger Pro | Tables.
2. Right click on dbo.InventorySource Connection and select Open Table.
3. Look for the old vCenter entry and scroll all the way over to the right to the column labeled "IsDeleted" and change false to true.
4. Close the table and restart the vRanger Pro services. You should be able to add the vCenter without issue.
