Machine-SAN restore fails with message "One of the parameters supplied is invalid" -
Description
- Backups are successful using SAN transport.
- When attempting to run a VMware SAN restore, it fails over to LAN transport with the following message:
Restore task using VDDK SAN failed: Error: 2813 - [vix_cant_write_detail] VIX can't write [Datastore] Virtual-Machine/Virtual-Machine.vmdk (One of the parameters supplied is invalid)

Cause
The Windows operating system has the SAN disks configured in Read-Only mode. Restores direct to SAN disk are not possible. -
Resolution
A workaround would be to allow the restore to complete using NBD transport method, but if the restore process must be performed using SAN mode, please follow these steps:
- Open a Command Prompt as an administrator, type "diskpart" and press enter.
- Run the command "List Disk".
- Decide which disk you want to use to perform the restore and then run the command "Select Disk".
- Then run the command "Attributes Disk" to identify if the disk is read-only.
- To clear the read-only attribute, run the command "attributes disk clear readonly".
- The command to set them in read-only mode again is "attributes disk set readonly".
- The command to set them in read-only mode again is "attributes disk set readonly".
NOTE: It is recommended to set the disks back to read only mode once the restore is finished to ensure the disks attached to the vRanger box from your SAN can not be written over by mistake.
