Error 2760 "One or more required subsystems failed to initialize" during machine-based backup (4041048)

Ranger 7.x along with Virtual Center installed on Windows Server.

Backup job using Machine-based transport fails with Error: 2760 - [vix_cant_open_detail] VIX can't open [datastore] directory/vm-disk.vmdk (One or more required subsystems failed to initialize)

Virtual Appliance-based backup works.

This is a known VMware issue described below:

As per VMware KB above, there is no resolution yet.

Workaround is to deploy one or more Ranger Virtual Appliance. Use VA-based transport mode or installed vRanger in another server other than the vCenter server.
