Backup fails "Failed to acquire the shared resources. (Error: 2916 - CIFS cannot connect to share)" (4032501)

vRanger backup job randomly fails with Error Message: "Failed to acquire the shared resources. (Error: 2916 - CIFS cannot connect to share)".

vRanger fails to reach the repository or resolve it by hostname.

• Confirm that the repository device is up and operational.
• Confirm if the repository device is reachable by hostname and IP.

If it is preferred to change the configuration in vRanger from using hostname to IP address, please perform the following steps:

1. Remove repository from my Repositories view.
   1. Select affected Repository.
   2. Remove Repository (Make Sure Option to remove Savepoints is unselected).
2. Re-Add Repository but this time use IP address instead of hostname.
   1.  You will get a prompt when re-adding repository, select "Update" option, that will import all savepoints from the repository.
3. Run backup job again.
