Adding a new repository fails with "Failed to connect to repository. Cannot resolve target repository IP" -
Description
Adding a new repository using CIFS/NFS may fail with the following error:
- Failed to connect to repository Cannot resolve target repository to IP address...

Cause
This issue occurs due to old repository entries in the SQL vRangerPro database.
If a repository was added using FQDN and decommissioned eventually, re-using the IP address with a different FQDN may lead to this error.

Resolution
This must be fixed within the SQL vRangerPro database. Please perform a backup of the database using SQLCMD or SQL Management Studio before running any SQL command in the database. The backup of the database will allow us to roll back any change that is affecting the normal behavior of vRanger. Please note that SQL Management studio must be installed separately.
To identify the repository entry that contains the name depicted in the error message, please run the following query after replacing the WHERE clause with the actual name of the repository in the error message:
SELECT TOP 1000 [DisplayName],[Address],[TargetDirectory],[CreatedDate],[UpdatedDate],[IsDeleted]FROM [vRangerPro].[dbo].[Repository]WHERE [Address] = 'repository name'If a result is found, please update the SET clause with the IP address of the repository you are trying to add:UPDATE [vRangerPro].[dbo].[Repository]SET [Address] = 'IP address'WHERE [Address] = 'repository name'As a workaround for this issue, you can edit the host file within Windows and add the entry of the 'repository name' with an actual IP address to allow FQDN resolution for the old entry.
