Tool Options

This topic focuses on information that may be unfamiliar to you. It does not include all step and field descriptions.

To set tool options

  1. Select Tools | Options |Editor | Tools.

  2. Review the following for additional information:

    SQL Recall

    Description

    Number of statements to display

    Enter the maximum number of executed statements to display in the Executed tab of the SQL Recall window. When the maximum number is reached, Toad overwrites the first statement in the list.

    Default: 100

    Syntax Checks Description
    Perform automatic syntax checks

    Select this check box to enable automatic syntax checks when editing a script in Editor.

    Default: Selected

    Show syntax check messages in Results

    Select this check box to show syntax check messages in Results Tab.

    Default: Selected

    Highlight invalid lines in Editor

    Select this check box to highlight invalid lines in the right-hand scroll bar of the Editor.

    Default: Selected

    View Object at Cursor

    Select where to display a database object when you select it in the SQL script and press F4.

    • Document Window—Displays the object in the Database Explorer (Viewer) window.
    • Object Details—Displays the object in the Details pane.

    Default: Object Details

    Show Script Map Select to show the Script Map pane in the Editor window by default.
    Show Group Execute Select to show the Group Execute pane in the Editor window by default.
    Show information pop-ups for objects Select to display informative tool tips for objects in the SQL script. Place the cursor over a table or column name in the SQL text to display the tool tip.

    Note: These options apply to the Editor window only. You can set options that apply to all components (Editor, Database Explorer, etc.) that display query results in the Script Result Options page. See Script Result Options for more information.

Tips:

  • To navigate to the directory where option settings are stored, click the Application Data Directory link in the About dialog (Help | About).

  • To search for a partial or complete option name or value, use the Search field at the bottom of each Options page. See About Options for more information.
