Toad Data Point 5.3 - Installation Guide

Publish Generic Files to TIC

In addition to publishing Automation scripts and Toad documents to Toad Intelligence Central (TIC), you can also publish generic files, for example, Excel files, text files, etc. This allows you to share not only scripts and Toad documents but also their supporting files.

You can also use this method to publish Toad documents as generic files. However, the best way to publish a Toad document is to open the document and click Publish File in the Wizard bar. See Publish Toad Documents to Intelligence Central for more information.

Note: This feature is available in the Toad Data Point Professional edition only and requires access to a Toad Intelligence Central server.

To publish a generic file to Toad Intelligence Central

  1. Do one of the following to open the Publish to Intelligence Central dialog.
    • Select File | Send To | Publish File and browse to and select the file (or files) you want to publish. You can select multiple files using CTRL+click. Click Open in the Select File to Publish dialog.
    • In the Library, right-click a generic file and select Publish File.

Note: If you select a Toad document in the Library, it will be published as a Toad document, not as a generic file.

2. In the Publishing dialog, select a destination server, a folder, and sharing options for your published file. See Publish to Toad Intelligence Central for detailed information about Publishing options.

Tip: You can also publish a generic file or Toad document from the Project Manager. Right-click the file in the Project Manager and select Send To | Publish File.

Considerations and Limitations

Toad Document Limitation
Automation Script

An Automation script published as a generic file cannot be executed on Intelligence Central.

Toad does not check script connections or modify the script for the Intelligence Central environment when you publish it as a generic file.

To publish an Automation script and run it on Intelligence Central, use another publishing method. See Publish Automation Scripts to Intelligence Central for more information.
