In addition to initial setup tasks, the Console Program lets you perform a variety of maintenance tasks. For more information, see Maintaining appliances.

NOTE: To select a menu item, highlight the menu item (see the on instructions), ensure OK is highlighted, and press Enter. To move between options, such as the OK and Back options, press the Tab key. |
For security purposes, you should change the vendor’s default password for the default setup user account. Alternatively, you can add a new user and then delete the default user. For more information, see Adding new user accounts.
This procedure enables SSH for the setup user, which enables remote access via an SSH client.

When using physical appliances, you also need to specify an NTP server. Virtual appliances, however, synchronize with the host's clock using the VMware® Tools “Synchronize guest time with host” feature, which is enabled by default the virtual appliances. You may want to open the vSphere® client on the host and verify that the NTP settings are correct.
