The main menu of the Console Program groups tasks into categories, as shown in the following image.

The following table shows you the list of tasks that you can perform under each menu item. The tasks are the same for physical and virtual appliances, except where noted.

Managing user accounts

You can add, modify, and remove user accounts. You can choose to enable SSH for any account.

Adding new user accounts

A Console Program user account provides access to an appliance. Good security practices recommend changing the default vendor password before an appliance is connected to the network. Also, each account must be assigned to an actual user.
When specifying a password, you need to select a strong password.

NOTE: A Console Program user account does not provide access to the Foglight browser interface.
To create a console user account:

From the main menu, select Console User Accounts.

Select New Console User.

In the Add User screen, type the user name and select OK.

In the Enter Password screen, type a password for the new account and select OK.

In the Confirm Password screen, retype the password and select OK.
The Console Program creates the user account.

In the Status screen, select OK to return to the Console User Accounts.

Modifying user accounts and enabling SSH

A common reason for modifying a user account is to update the user's password. You can also change the user's SSH access permission.
To modify user credentials:

From the main menu, select Console User Accounts.

Select Modify Console User

In the Modify Console User(s) screen, select the user account that you want to modify.

To modify the account’s password, select Change Password.

In the Enter Password screen, type a password for the new account and select OK.

In the Confirm Password screen, retype the password and select OK.

In the Status screen, select OK to return to the Modify Console User.

To change the SSH access for this account, select Enable/Disable SSH.

To grant this user account SSH access to an appliance, select Yes. To remove this privilege, select No.

In the Status screen, select OK to return to the Modify Console User.

Select Back to return to the Console User Accounts.
