Define Conditional Styles

You can create and apply conditional formatting rules to customize the appearance of pivot grid cells and cell contents. Create a rule by specifying a condition and then define the desired cell appearance (background color, text color, etc.).

To define conditional formatting

  1. In a pivot grid, right-click a field value and select Format Rules | option. Select one of the following options:

    Highlight Cell Rules

    From a list of commonly-used operations, select a predefined rule and cell format.

    1. Select an operation.
    2. Enter a value and select a predefined format.

    Or select Custom Condition to build a custom condition and then select one of the predefined cell formats.

    You can customize the format after the rule is created. Select Format Rules | Manage Rules to edit the existing rule.

    Top/Bottom Rules

    Format cells based on the rank of the value. From a list of ranking rules, select a predefined rule and cell format.

    • Select type of ranking. Enter a limit and select a predefined format.

    You can customize the format after the rule is created. Select Format Rules | Manage Rules to edit the existing rule.

    Manage Rules

    Create a custom rule or edit an existing rule.

    Click New Rule to create a custom rule.

    1. Select one of the rule types and then define the new rule.
    2. To build a custom condition, select Use a formula to determine which cells to format.
    3. Click Format to define the cell format.

    To edit a rule, select the rule and click Edit Rule.

    Use the Up/Down buttons to determine the order in which the rules are applied.

    Clear Rules

    Delete rules associated with this or all fields.

    To review rules before deleting, right-click the grid and select Format Rules | Manage Rules.
