Toad Data Point 5.5 - User Guide

Set Up Pivot Grids

You can specify how values are summarized and displayed in a Toad pivot grid. You can also reformat numbers and rename fields.

To specify field and value field settings

  • Change summary type (sum, count, etc.). You can change the way values are summarized or aggregated. You can specify sum, count, average, distinct count, listagg etc.
    • Data Area—Right-click a value or field and select Summarize Values By | type. Select a summary type or click More Options for an expanded list.

Or right-click a value or field and select Value Field Settings. Then select a summary type from the Summarize Values By tab.

    • Subtotal—Right-click the subtotaled field name and select Field Settings. Then select a summary type to use for the subtotal.
  • Show values as a calculation of percentage, rank, etc. You can display values in the grid as a calculation. For example, display each value as a percentage of the grand total or as the value's rank. Specify this setting per instance of a field. You can apply this setting to fields in the Data Area.
    • Right-click a field name or value and select Show Values As | option. Select a display option.
    • You can also format the number by selecting Show Values As | More Options. Specify the display option and then click Format Number.
    • To remove the calculation, right-click the field name or value and select Show Values As | No Calculation
  • Specify Number Format. You can specify the numeric format for grid values. Initially, a default format is applied based on the summary type and calculation type of a field. You can specify this setting per instance of a field.
    • Right-click a field value or the field name and select Value Field Settings. Click Number Format and select a format from the list.
  • Specify Subtotals Format. You can specify the format in which subtotals value is displayed. By default subtotals are displayed for row area fields with multiple values only. Click Set pivot grid properties to enable display of subtotals and totals for single values too.
  • Rename fields. You can rename a field. This is useful if you use the same field multiple times in a pivot grid. To rename a field, do one of the following:
    • Column or Row—Right-click a column or row field name and select Field Settings. Then enter a custom name. You can do this in the pivot grid or in the Areas below the field list.
    • Data Area—Right-click a value or field name and select Value Field Settings. Then enter a custom name. You can do this in the pivot grid or in the Data Area below the field list.
    • Grand Total—After adding a grand total column or row, right-click Grand Total and select Rename Grand Total. Enter a custom name.
