Configuring Power365 Directory Sync Lite

Important!: This topic relates to Power365 Directory Sync Lite. As of May 29, 2020, Directory Sync Lite is no longer the standard deployment option for Premium Integration and Integration Pro projects. More information can be found here.

What is Power365 Directory Sync Lite?

Power365 Directory Sync Lite is a light-weight program installed in the local destination environments to facilitate the Active Directory changes required for GAL Sync and during different stages of the user’s migration experience.

How does it work?

Power365 Directory Sync Lite by default polls the Power365 Project every 5 minutes using a unique ID and password to receive new jobs to execute against the local AD Forest(s).

How do I configure access to my project?

After installing the Power365 Directory Sync Lite software, you will need to configure access to your Power365 Integration Project. Follow these steps to complete the configuration.

  1. Launch Directory Sync Lite.
  2. Navigate to the Project tab.
  3. From the information screen in Power365, obtain the Access URL and the Access Key. The project key is unique to your project. You can click to copy this information to the clipboard. You can also access this code at any time from the project dashboard.
  4. On the Project tab in Power365 Directory Sync, paste the access URL and the Access Key.
  5. Enter the password that you selected during the configuration. You will use this same information on all destination environments.
  6. If everything is correct the name of your project will appear. If not, you will need to verify and correct this information before you can continue. Then select the appropriate tenant from the dropdown menu.

  • Name – Enter a descriptive name for this Sync Profile.
  • Status – Select the status to enable or disable the Sync Profile.
  • Logging – Select the level of logging desired.

How do I setup Power365 Directory Sync Lite for non-English Active Directory environments?

Power365 Directory Sync Lite refers to several system groups by their English names, which will not function properly when deploying in environments where non-English Active Directory is deployed. To resolve this, the mapping of these systems group names can be configured to accommodate non-English language deployments.

There are five new .config file values, representing the five system groups used by Directory Sync Pro: All Users, All Groups, All Rooms, Default Global Address List, and Deleted Objects. To localize a value, edit BinaryTree.Dirsync.Exchange.exe.config on the Exchange Coexistence server and add the colored text below (the existing configuration is shown below in black), replacing the value with the equivalent value in the appropriate language.
