Manage Intelligence Central Users and Groups

You can view and manage Intelligence Central users and groups through the Users tab (or node) in the Object Explorer. The Users tab allows you to create Intelligence Central groups, add Active Directory users and groups, and edit or drop groups. You can edit or drop an Intelligence Central group if you are the owner of the group. You cannot edit a group added from Active Directory.

Note: This feature is available in the Toad Data Point Professional edition only and requires access to a Toad Intelligence Central server.

Manage Users

To view User information

  1. In the Object Explorer, select the Users tab.
  2. Right-click a user and select View Details.
  3. In the Viewer window, select a tab to view more details.
    • Information tab—Displays user details, such as email address and account type.
    • Shared tab—Displays objects shared with this user and also visible to you. For each shared object, you can also see if Manage privileges are included.

      Note: On the Shared tab, you can see only the shared objects that are also shared with you or that you own.

To add a User from Active Directory

  1. In the Object Explorer, select the Users tab.
  2. Click in the Users toolbar. (To display the Users toolbar, select a user.)
  3. In the Authenticate dialog, enter the credentials for your Active Directory account in order to access a list of domains and users. Click OK.
  4. Select a domain in the Add Users from Active Directory dialog. Then select a user (or group) from the list and click Add Selected. For more detailed instructions, see Add Active Directory User or Group.

Additional Actions for Managing Users

Drop the selected user.

Manage Groups

To view the group's members and other information

  1. In the Object Explorer, select the Users tab.
  2. Right-click a group and select View Details.
  3. In the Viewer window, select a tab to view more details. Select the Users tab to view the group's members. Review the following for additional information:

    Tab Contents
    Information Displays group owner and group type (origin).
    Users

    Displays the list of members.

    Select a member in the list to display user information in the lower pane, for example:

    • User email address
    • The type of authentication used for this user account
    Shared

    The Shared tab displays the following:

    • A list of objects shared with this group and also visible to you.

      Note: On the Shared tab, you can see only the shared objects that are also shared with you or that you own.

    • For each shared object, the Shared tab indicates if Manage privileges are included.

To edit an Intelligence Central group

  1. In the Object Explorer, select the Users tab.
  2. Select an Intelligence Central group and click .

    Note: You cannot edit a group added from Active Directory.

    Use the icons to identify the origin of each group.

    • —Indicates the group was added from Active Directory.
    • —Indicates an Intelligence Central group.
  3. In the Manage Group dialog, the group members are listed in the right pane. Use the arrows to add or remove selected members from the group.
  4. Click Execute to save your changes and close the dialog.

Additional Actions for Managing Groups

Create an Intelligence Central group. See Create Intelligence Central Group for more information.
Add a group from Active Directory. See Add Active Directory User or Group for more information.
