Mapping Limitations

Are mappings editable for the Prepare, Provision and Cutover workflows?

Yes.

Are any attributes restricted from being edited?

Yes, below are the mappings that cannot be edited by the end-user as they affect the Prepare\Provisioning workflow and\or ERS:

Prepare Mappings

Users:

  • objectClass
  • userPrincipalName - Can't be edited, we expect the target UPN to match the NewUserPrincipalName for created users.
  • msExchHideFromAddressLists & HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled - Prepare process expects OnPrem targets to be hidden in GAL. Also required for OptInSync to work.
  • targetAddress & ExternalEmailAddress - Prepare process expects these to == the source user's primary SMTP. Also required for ARS\OptIn Sync to work.
  • msExchRecipientDisplayType, msExchRecipientTypeDetails, RecipientType, RecipientTypeDetails - Prepare expects the target to be created as a MailUser.

Contacts:

  • objectClass
  • targetAddress & ExternalEmailAddress - Prepare process expects these to == the source user's primary SMTP. Also required for ARS\OptIn Sync to work.

Unified Groups:

  • HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled & HiddenFromExchangeClientsEnabled - Prepare checks these to determine if UG has been prepared

Provisioning Mappings

Users:

  • msExchRecipientDisplayType, msExchRecipientTypeDetails & msExchRemoteRecipientType - Provisioning expects target recipient type to match source, also to enable the archive (msExchRemoteRecipientType) if enabled on source.
  • msExchHideFromAddressLists & HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled - Provisioning process expects Cloud targets to be hidden in GAL. Also required for OptInSync to work.
  • targetAddress - Provisioning process expects this to == the source user's primary SMTP. Also required for ARS\OptIn Sync to work.

Contacts:

  • RecipientType & RecipientTypeDetails - required to create cloud contacts during provisioning.
  • ExternalEmailAddress - Provisioning process expects this to == the source user's primary SMTP. Also required for ARS\OptIn Sync to work.

Unified Groups:

  • RecipientTypeDetails – Provisioning expects UGs to be converted to Teams (based on migration profile setting)

Note: No restrictions for Cutover Target & Source mappings
