How to restore a DNS zone or DNS record -
Description
An Active Directory integrated DNS zone or record has been deleted and needs to be restored. -
Cause

Resolution
- Run Online Restore Wizard
- Click through the wizard until you get to the Objects to be processed page
- Click Add | Browse
- Check show advanced objects
- Expand DC=DomainDnsZones,DC=#####,DC=#####
- Expand MicrosoftDNS
Note: The procedure is also valid to restore DNS records

Additional Information
- RMAD console might not be able to see the DC if DNS is down. In that case you might want manually add DC records to the host file on the RMAD server
- If the DNS zone does not come back after the restore, verify that the objects have been restored using adsiedit.msc. If need be, restart the DNS Server service on the domain controller.
- DNS zone must be integrated in Active Directory. DNS zones/records to restore may also exist in the below locations, depending on how DNS is configured:
