When running an install or an upgrade, the installer fails prematurely and rolls back. The MSI installer log shows errors similar to the following:
Confirm that the account running the installer has dbowner rights to the database mentioned in the logs.
If the database is part of an AlwaysOn Availability Group, remove the database the group and run the installer again. The database can be added back to the group after the Installer completes.
If the installer is still failing and logging the same error, try detaching the database and moving the mdf file to a different location and then try the installer again.
