When selecting the 'Log Errors only' option in Recovery Manager for AD, under the Properties | Log tab of a particular collection, the E-mail notification, Application Log or Text File gets created even when the collection is successful.
This is due to a design issue with the code that checks the error condition.
WORKAROUND:
Set a filter on the email account to ignore messages that have a success condition
