Unpacked Backups Policy does not working correctly. When the option to save unpacked backups at time of creation is unchecked, the temporary files are still being saved in the Unpacked folder.
CAUSE
When the check box is unchecked, the UnPackOnCreation registry key gets set to zero; however, the .tmp files are still saved in the Unpacked folder.
WORKAROUND
The only way to get the .tmp files to not be saved is to delete all files that are currently stored in the Unpacked directory, ensure the UnPackOnCreation and KeepCount registry keys are set to zero, and the DeleteAfterUnpackonCreation key is set to one. From that point on the .tmp file will be created at the time of backup; however, it will be immediately deleted, once the job has fully completed with a Success status.
The 2 registry keys are located in: HKLM\Software\Quest Software\Recovery Manager for Active Directory\UnPackedSettings.
STATUS
This has been resolved in Recovery Manager for Active Directory 7.1.2. The latest version of Recovery Manager for Active Directory can be downloaded from the following location: http://questsupportlink.quest.com/prod_upgrade_alert.asp.
