On Demand Migration for Email (ODME) does not provide details on items listed on the estimation list but not migrated.
An ER has been raised (PT101300382) to provide such information on the ODME log.
At the moment the only way to identify the source folders/items causing the mismatch is by analyzing the logs provided on the ODME Portal -> Reports following below steps:
1.- Download the log from the ODME Portal.
2.- Open Excel and create 2 tables, Table 1: Items Estimated Table 2: Items Processed, with 2 columns each, one for the name of the folder and the other for the number of items.
3.- Open the log downloaded.
4.- Start searching by keyword "The message estimate" from the first line of the log.
5.- Take note of the folder name and number of messages and paste them on the estimated table. See sample below:
The message estimate for folder Inbox is 33 messages
6.- Repeat point 5 until you reach the following line "Estimated X items will be migrated".
7.- Now start searching by keyword "Messages migrated"
8.- Take note of the folder name and number of messages and paste them on the Items Processed table in Excel. Here if you see a messages migrated value and a skipped value sum them up and paste the total in your processed table in Excel. See sample below:
Messages migrated 400, skipped 1025, errors 0 for folder Inbox
9.- Repeat point 8 until the end of the log has been reached.
10.- Sum up all the number of items from table Items Estimated.
11.- Sum up all the number of items from table Items Processed.
12.- Compare both total values to confirm the mismatch shown by ODME.
13.- Now compare row by row every folder value from the Items Estimated table with the corresponding folder in the Items Processed table until you see a mismatch. That mismatch value should be the same as the one causing the mismatch between the Items Estimated and Items Processed.
14.- Confirm with the customer that the mismatch exists between the source mailbox and target mailbox.
15.- Now back to the log search by the folder name found in point 13 and look through for any Errors/Warnings right before messages are migrated to that folder. See sample below:
Messages migrated 400, skipped 1025, errors 0 for folder Inbox
16.- If you need to log an SR for further assistance once you have found the error and issue, please provide the following details:
- ODME Account Name
- ODME Plan Name
- User affected
- Folder causing the mismatch
- Warning/Error which appears on the ODME log.
Note: If the migration has been reconnected, the migration will re-start. You will need to review all re-migrated folders in case more items have been migrated so that the final count is as much accurate as possible.
This procedure detailed should be done on a mailbox by mailbox basis.
