The following describes the hardware recommendations for using vRanger in a VM:

CPU

Four vCPUs.

RAM

4 GB RAM is recommended.

Storage

At least 4 GB free hard disk space on the vRanger machine.

Requirements for physical backup and restore

When backing up from and restoring to a physical server, vRanger uses a client run on that server to perform backup and restore operations. To process the backup workload effectively, the physical server must meet the following requirements:

CPU

Any combination equaling four cores of CPUs are recommended. Example one quad-core CPU; two dual-core CPUs.

RAM

2 GB RAM is required.

Product licensing

The instructions for enabling a trial or purchased license are the same.

To enable a license:

Copy the file, xxx-135-25746.asc, that was attached to an email you received to an accessible location.

In this step, 135-25746 represents your unique license number.

Click Help Menu > License Information.

From the License Information screen, click Add New License.

The lower portion of the License Information screen displays your license information.

Click Save, and then click Exit.
