To change which cluster you are viewing, click the Cluster Name link (located at the top left corner of the dashboard, just below the dashboard name). Select a cluster from the drop-down list.

If the Overview tab indicates that a cluster is performing poorly, use the MQ Server Infrastructure tab to investigate latency, blocks, or other configuration issues. For example, if your MQ cluster is distributed across a large geographic distance, this can result in high latency between queue managers. The MQ Server Infrastructure tab displays performance details for the auto-created sender and receiver channels and infrastructure queues, while the MQ Server Application tab displays the user-created MQ objects.

Select any individual queue manager on any tab of this dashboard to examine that queue manager’s details in the Queue Managers Group View.

Using EmailAction

This section describes how to use the email registry variable (mail.alias.mq) for sending MQ-related alerts.

When an alert is fired by an MQ Object (for example, MQQueue, a queue in the MQ system), the registry values at different scope levels are checked in the following order:

CurrentScope (for example, MQQueue)

CurrentScope’s parent (MQQueueManager)

Parent’s parent (MQGroup)

Global value

The first defined value found is used as the effective registry value. For example, if there is no value defined for MQQueue, and there is a value defined for MQQueueManager, then the value of MQQueueManager is used as the registry value. If no lower-level scope values are found, the global value (if defined) is used.

You can define different values for the various scope levels in Foglight. This allows you to specify values relevant to the different queue levels. For example, if one administrator manages the MQQueueManager, while another administrator manages only the MQQueue, you can differentiate between the two by defining different scope level values so that the correct administrator is notified by email from the correct MQ Object alert.

To define a global value:

On the navigation panel, under Dashboards, click Administration > Rules & Notifications > Manage Registry Variable.

Locate the mail.alias.mq registry variable entry and click the variable name.


	TIP: To locate the variable quickly, type mail in the Filter by Variable Name box.

The Edit Registry Variables view loads.

In the Global Default area, type a valid email address in the box.


	NOTE: Foglight does not validate the email address.

Click Save.

To add a value to a non-global scope:

On the Edit Registry Variable page, click Add Registry Value at the bottom of the page.

The Create Registry Value for mail.alias.mq -- Step 1: Select Topology and Default Value view appears.

Select the Topology Type from the list. For example: MQGroup.

In the Default Value box, enter a valid email address for the scope.

Click Add.

The Add Performance Calendars view appears.

Optional — Add a performance calendar. If you want the default value to change over time, add one or more schedules to the performance calendar and specify the value for each schedule. For more information, see the Foglight User Guide.

Click Done.

The Edit Registry Variable view refreshes. The scope value you created appears in the Registry Values box at the bottom of the view.
