To properly migrate DA, follow steps A or B depending of the setup:
A- Is data collection used for reporting? “If unknown, under user profiles, there is a “data collection” element if there is something created there, then yes, also check computers tab.”
- If data collection is not used:
- Install DA on new server, export the profiles form old DA server, and import them on the new server.
- To preserve the Global Options settings, copy the SLStart.ini file from the SLScripts$ share (C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest\Desktop Authority Manager\Scripts) on old server. Go to the same location on new server and paste the file. This file contains current Global Options settings, such as Exceptions and diagnostic logging settings.
- Then add domain controller to the new server.
- If data collection is used:
- Follow these steps to migrate DA if SQL DB is hosted locally
- Follow these steps to migrate DA if SQL DB is hosted remotely
B- Need to migrate DA and external/remote DB to a new host?
- To make it simple, migrate DB to the new host first.
- Then use the following instructions to migrate DA, and point it to the new DB hosted remotely.
