The KACE SDA supports WinPE 3, WinPE 4, WinPE5, WINPE10 and WINPE11. These boot environments are created from Media Manager.
Media Manager downloads the drivers for KBE from the SDA and therefore we need to make sure that the proper drivers are injected into the boot environment.
Note: To build a new KBE from scratch see This Article. (This is needed from time to time for newer hardware).
When following this process you should first remove all the drivers within the kbe_windows_xXX folder.
Add the appropriate drivers for the version of WinPE you would like to use.
KBE (WinPE 3.0) contains a vast number of Windows 7 NIC and mass storage drivers, there are new computer models being released all the time containing chipsets that were not available when WinPE 3 was released. With the help of our customers, support has compiled a WinPE 3 Driver Pack. These drivers include the WinPE 3 drivers, as well as drivers for atheros, vmware and yukon chipsets. Some storage drivers in this pack could cause blue screens with xx50 systems, if this happens, remove the storage devices causing the issue.
KBE (WinPE 4.0) contains Windows 8 drivers. The WinPE 4 Driver Pack includes WinPE 4 drivers as well as drivers for VMWare.
KBE (WinPE 5.0) contains Windows 8.1 drivers. The WinPE 5 Driver Pack includes WinPE 5 drivers as well as drivers for VMWare and b57/k57 drivers from 7040 driverpack.
KBE (WinPE 10) / Driver Pack 10 contains Windows 10 drivers. The WinPE 10 Driver Pack includes WinPE 10 drivers.
WinPE11 and WinPE10 are backwards compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 7.
Driver packs can be found under the download for the latest release.
