When performing a backup of a Virtual Machine, backups are very slow (~ 1 to 5 MB/s)
The cause of this maybe that the backup is not being performed in COS mode, because the ESX hosts are not credentialed. If the VC is credentialed and not the hosts in that inventory tree, the backup is performed over the VDDK nbd, which is considerably slower than COS backup.
This can be seen in the backup log:
-Host credentials not provided for ESX host.
-Backup task will be attempted using a VDDK network connection.
In vRanger, credential the hosts.
Backups will now be in COS mode and improvements in backup speed should be seen
This is only relevant to environments with ESX hosts
