When trying to upgrade vRanger from 5.0 to 5.2, the install fails at trying to stop the vRanger pro service. The error stated is:
"vRanger Pro service cannot be stopped. Reason: The specified service does not exist as an installed service.
Would you like to try stopping the service again?"
It will repeat this error over and over until cancel is selected and the install aborts.
There was a installation failure during upgrade and your "vRanger Pro" service is not there or it is called "vRanger Service"
It is possible that services could not have been stopped when requested or full install was run instead of upgrade.
There could be more reasons for failed service.
Cleanup of file system and registry is required, please perform following steps:
Copy and paste the following commands into the CMD.
32bit Windows
reg delete "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\vRanger Pro"
64bit Windows
reg delete "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\vRanger Pro"
Also please delete "Vizioncore" directory from "Program Files" or "Program Files(x86)"
Now please try running the vRanger upgrade once again.
You should have your previous backup/replication jobs intact when you start vRanger, please verify all the settings were kept from previous version.
