When trying to send a test message from Spotlight on Messaging you receive the message - "test email could not be sent to the recipient"
Make sure that you have specified a valid SMTP server, capable or relaying SMTP messages with Anonymous authentication enabled, in the Notifications section of the Spotlight Management Console.
If the SMTP server address is valid try the following from a command prompt.
If at any time any of these steps fail please focus on trouble shooting the issue on your SMTP server.
Once all of these steps can be completed successfully from the Spotlight Server, Spotlight will then be capable of sending notifications.
On the server where Spotlight on Messaging is installed open a command prompt and do the following.
Type: telnet <server name> 25
