What does the new feature of "Limit number of prompts" do in the patching schedule
Clarification and an example of the new feature beyond the documentation in the K1000 Patching and Security Guides.
The article describes how the new feature in patching for version 5.4+ works for limiting the number of reboot prompts.
The new feature allows X number of prompts to be displayed to the user before the reboot action occurs. After the deployment of patches, once the X number of prompts is reached the process will reboot the machine. Before the X number of prompts is reached, the process will perform the timeout action of “Reboot Later” as shown in the above example.
Note: The timeout action will be of “Reboot Now” every time the X number of prompts is reached.
Example: In the patching schedule, if the feature is enabled like in the above screenshot:
Message Timeout of: 5 minutes
Re-prompt Interval of: 15 minutes
Limit number of prompt is: 5
After a patch has been deployed and requires a reboot, the process will prompt the user to request to reboot and if the user does nothing, the prompt will timeout in 5 minutes. After another 15 minutes, the process will Re-Prompt the user until 5 times has been reached. After the 5th prompt, the process will restart the machine.
