Resolution
The KACE SMA Agent can be manually deployed on Linux devices by copying the Agent installation files to the devices and running installation commands.
- Copy the KACE SMA Agent installation file to the device.
- Open a terminal window from Applications > System Tools.
- At the terminal, set the name of the server and install the Agent:
For the KACE Agent installation 10.2 and older:
sudo KACE_SERVER=FQDN rpm -Uvh ampagent-10.2.xxxxx-x.i386.rpm
For the KACE Agent installation 11.0 or newer,
sudo rpm -Uvh ampagent-12.0.38.rhel.64_Appliance-Hostname+Agent-Token.rpm
Or use the KACE_HOST and KACE_TOKEN environment variables to specify the appliance hostname and agent token before running the installation file
The Agent is installed in the following directories:
- /opt/quest/kace/bin/ where the Agent executable files are installed.
- /var/quest/kace/ where the Agent configuration, logs, and other data is stored.
