Can the backup retention policy be configured to keep backups for 7 years. -
Resolution
The backup retention policy is based on the number of backups for each DC and not the age. When the backup job runs, it compares the policy number to the number of registered backups and removes backups, starting with the oldest one, until the numbers match.
If the DCs are backed up only once a day, setting the policy to keep the last 2555 would represent one backup each day for 7 years.
