1. First verify the SERVICE tag of the system and verify the model of the system (R420, R620, etc).
2. Details of the system can be found from this link:
http://quality/search/
3. How many hard drives are present for this physical server?
4. Confirm if the hard drive RAID controller is capable of hard drive hot swapping.
5. Check to see if the hard drive has been re-seated. If the hard drive has not been re-seated, then first try this step. If the RAID controller does not support hard drive hot swapping, then the system will have to be powered down first before the hard drive can be removed from the hard drive carrier. Most of the RAID controllers today do support hard drive hot swapping and therefore would not require a system shut down before removing the hard drive.
6. Please check the manual for the physical server on how to remove the hard drive.
7. Once the hard drive has been re-seated, check the KACE Systems Management webui page (click on the "Refresh RAID Status" button if necessary and wait) for an update to see if the hard drive starts to rebuild. In the sample image below, the missing hard drive appeared in the list and started to slowly rebuild from 0%. Customer should provide their shipping address for the ticket in case a replacement hard drive is required if the rebuild is ultimately not successful or if the hard drive fails again:
