Application splash screen hangs
When attempting to open Secure Copy it hangs at the splash screen. No errors are found in the Application event log, and no error/message is displayed.
There could be multiple causes including UAC, a corrupt SecureCopy.ssd file, and/or a corrupt installation.
First, via the Windows Task Manager kill the SecureCopy.exe process. Then review Initializing UI Components or Unable to stamp the registry when opening Secure Copy
If this article does not resolve the issue make sure your current License Key is available.
Rename the SecureCopy.ssd file in the installation folder. The default location is: C:\Program Files\ScriptLogic Corporation\Secure Copy 6, or starting in version 6.5 it's C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Secure Copy 6 . The SecureCopy.ssd file contains the saved job(s) settings. Reopen the application.
If this doesn’t resolve the issue completely uninstall Secure Copy as shown below:
Via Add/Remove Programs remove Secure Copy.
Delete the installation folder, default location is: C:\Program Files\ScriptLogic Corporation\Secure Copy 6
Delete the registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ScriptLogic Corporation\Secure Copy
(on a 64 bit machine the registry key is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ScriptLogic Corporation\Secure Copy)
Reinstall Secure Copy and apply the License Key. This will create a new SecureCopy.ssd file and the copy job(s) will need to be recreated.
