Users report that they are not able to find some Emails in the folder that they expect them to be in.
The total number of mails in all folders does not match the number of mails in the users Exchange mailbox.
This is due to messages that have been deleted before the Archive Manager Exchange Store Manager has been able to assign them to a folder in the Archive Manager database.
When a message is archived by the MAPI Dataloader, it is assigned to the relevent recipients mailbox but not to a folder in that mailbox. When the Archive Manager Exchange Store Manager service processes this mailbox, the message will be assigned to the relevant folder in the Archive Manager website.
If the Archive Manager Exchange Store Manager does not find the message, the message will not have a folder assigned to it and will only be visible if a user clicks on the top level of their mailbox in Archive Manager. This is the top level folder represented in the Archive Manager website by the users username, it is the parent folder of the Inbox, Sent Items and Deleted items folder.
This is currently intended behaviour. Enhancement Request ST74682 has been logged to change this behavior so that any mail located in a particular mailbox that is not currently assigned to a folder in that mailbox becomes assigned to the Inbox/Sent items based on email recipient type.
For example, if the mail was "To" the user then it should be assigned to the Inbox folder, if it was "From" the user, assign it to Sent Items.
