How to run Dell Inventory collector manually for Dell Updates
Description
For troubleshooting Dell Update issues, support may need to run the Inventory collector manually to retrieve the DELL_OUT_INV.xml file that is used to report back to the server.
Resolution
To obtain DELL_INV_OUT file for Dell Update (Kace SMA version 11.0 or below)
Open an administrative command prompt and change directory to C:\ProgramData\Quest\Kace\Dell.
Find the latest Inventory Collector executable file, for example: InvColPC_7.0.43.1.exe. NOTE:
Use the latest InvColPC file to execute the command.
From the command prompt, type the following to execute the Quest Kace Inventory collector: InvColPC_7.0.43.1.exe -enc=UTF-8 -outc=DELL_INV_OUT.xml -logc=DELL_INV_LOG.xml
DELL_INV_OUT.xml is generated.
Attach the DELL_INV_OUT.xml file to the Support Ticket.
Kace SMA version 11.1 or above
Open an administrative command prompt and change directory toC:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\SysMgt\dsia\bin\invcol.
From the command prompt, type the following to execute the Quest Kace Inventory collector: InvCol.exe -enc=UTF-8 -outc=DELL_INV_OUT.xml -logc=DELL_INV_LOG.xml
DELL_INV_OUT.xml is generated. Attach the DELL_INV_OUT.xml file to the Support Ticket.
