The Groupwise(GW) Archive Import Utility cannot import GW Archives unless the Archive Manager services for GW being installed and operational first.
This situation usually happens during migration from GW to Exchange.
We require information from the GW Post Office in order to properly import the archive files from GW. If the services are not running, and the mailboxes are not there in AM, then there is no possible way to import the archives, and more importantly, no where for the messages to go.
The only resolution other than reinstalling Archive Manager with Groupwise support, is to use the Quest Groupwise Migrator for Exchange. Once this is done, the PST's can either be brought back into Exchange and then processed by our services, or the PST import utility can be used to import the PST's into the Archive Manager database.
