Visual Studio Patches not detected as applicable -
Description
The Kace System Management Appliance (SMA) does not detect a Visual Studio Patch as applicable. However, if the Visual Studio Installer update assistant is run, the patch is shown as available for update.
If the patch is installed manually and a detect job is run against that patch, the same gets detected as Installed.

Cause
Per Microsoft's KB 5007364 - Administrator updates to Visual Studio 2022 the client computers must be enabled to receive administrator updates. This step is necessary to make sure that the updates are not unintentionally or accidentally pushed out to unsuspecting client computers.The 'AdministratorUpdatesEnabled' key is designed for the administrator to encode administrator intent. This key can be in any of the standard Visual Studio locations as described in the Set Defaults for Enterprise Deployments of Visual Studio documentation. Admin access to the client's computer is required in order to create and set the value of this key. -
Resolution
The 'AdministratorUpdatesEnabled'; this REG_DWORD allows administrator updates to be applied to the client computer. If this value is missing or is set to 0, administrator updates will be blocked.
A new DWORD in the registry location 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Setup' with Value Name 'AdministratorUpdatesEnabled' and Value Data '1' is required.After making this change the patch will show up as applicable after running a new DETECT patch schedule.

Additional Information
It may be encountered that not all the Visual Studio update versions per edition are available in the Kace SMA appliance. This is because not all the Visual Studio update versions are classified by Microsoft as Security Updates.The SMA only includes Visual Studio Security Updates.
