If the backup was created using Windows 2008 or later, and you are using a version of RMAD prior to 8.7, you need to first register the .vhd file as a disk in Windows and then register the DIT database as an offlline Active Directory database in RMAD : - Start Windows Disk Management snap-in - Click Action | Attach VHD - Select the VHD file from the backup folders and click Open - Click OK - In the RMAD Online Restore Wizard, click Register | Register Offline Active Directory Database - Browse to the following path on the new disk created from attaching the VHD file and select the ntds.dit file: Windows\NTDS - Click OK
Click Next
