Please note automated deployment of the vRanger VSS tools may fail if the VMware registry key on (4047279)

Please note automated deployment of the vRanger VSS tools may fail if the VMware registry key on the target VM is set to volatile.

In order to resolve this issue, perform the steps below. Note - modifying your Windows registry incorrectly may severely damage your operating system. Please backup your registry before changing any values.

1. Export the volatile key
2. Delete the volatile key

3. Manually create the following key under VMWare, Inc

-On 32 bit machine - "HKLM SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc\VMware VIX"
-On 64 bit machine - "HKLM SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\VMware, Inc\VMware VIX"

1. Manually create a string value called "InstallPath" in the VMware VIX key. Set the value to "<InstallPath>\Client\VSS".

-Default Path on 32 bit machine - C:\Program Files\Quest Software\vRanger\Client\VSS
-Default Path on 64 bit machine - C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\vRanger\Client\VSS

1. Import the earlier exported volatile key
2. Reboot the machine
